My journey as a nutrition student at Wellpark College

Wellpark Student Kerry

I have been a passionate foodie and experimental cook all my life. I have struggled with my weight, suffering from depression, insomnia, fatigue and fertility issues amongst other things. I was always trying the latest fad diet in an attempt to lose weight only to regain what I’d lost and more. In my early twenties, I finally decided to take control of my health.

I was introduced to the amazing work of British nutritionist Patrick Holford, and since then I have devoured any information and research on healthy eating and lifestyle habits, incorporating them into my life. It wasn’t until my late thirties that I had the opportunity to complete a Diploma in Nutrition at Wellpark College of Natural Therapies.

My journey with Wellpark has definitely been both challenging and fulfilling. During my studies I have had the honour and privilege of working with some amazing and inspiring people and they have really helped prepare me for the future. The most important advice they gave me early on was to create an online presence so I began writing articles and recipes for content, then created and designed my website and Facebook page. Having all of this in place provided a fantastic launch-pad when it came time to advertise for clients for the student clinic at Kawai Purapura in Albany.

I was given the opportunity to exhibit at the Warkworth Mitre 10 Mega Ladies Night which was a huge success and great fun. I met some really interesting people who are experiencing common challenges when trying to create healthy habits and I’m looking forward to helping them achieve their health goals.

I love being able to help people navigate their health journey. I have had fantastic feedback from friends and family who have asked me for help with simple dietary changes, how to navigate the marketing minefield of the supermarket and how to make nutritious lunch box fillers for kids and adults.

New research is discovered every day, it is constantly changing, evolving and challenging our current habits. Wellbeing is a very personal journey that is unique to each person, there is no “one plan fits all” solution. Individual needs change over time and it is necessary to approach health holistically, looking at lifestyle, exercise, diet, sleep and stress management, to discover what is out of balance.

My mission is to guide people to a life full of energy and a sense of well-being through education and support, inspiring daily habits and creating that essential balance.

My vision is to deliver practical ideas that can be incorporated into everyday life, creating habits that are sustainable with long-term benefits.
